"I will spend most of my life and eternity knowing my children as adults,
but for a few short years I have the privilege of knowing them as children."

June in Review

On June 13th we got up at an unbelievable early hour to go down to watch the hot air balloon show in Springville.

In the end, there was too much wind so they couldn't launch any of the balloons off the ground. But hey, at least we got a free doughnut!

In other news, this is why we can't have a garden:
A small herd of deer live in the field down the street. They'll eat anything that they can reach.
We went with Rachel's family to a concert in Orem by an Irish band that I can't remember the name of right now. It was a lot of fun, but the little kids just wanted to run around.

My aunt Leanna hosted a family history tour around Lake Shore, Spanish Fork and Payson. We visited my Great Grandma Baadsgaard's home site, my Grandpa Baadsgaard's farm land, the spot of river where my Grandpa almost died with he jumped in head first and got his head stuck in the mud, the sugar beet factory where my mom and her siblings worked (my kids call it the Bat Cave because we could hear bats chirping in the rafters). We also drove past the house my mom grew up in in Spanish Fork which my grandpa built, we visited their graves in the Spanish Fork cemetary, and finished at the Peteetneet School in Payson. My grandpa built the chimney on this school all by himself. He didn't have any real scaffolding back then and he said it was one of the most dangerous masonry jobs he ever did. But look how straight those bricks are even after all these years!
Allison took this picture. I'm not sure who got cut off. This is just a tiny fraction of the Baadsgaard family.
Allison made a new friend in my cousin's daughter, Sydney.
Madeline biffed it trying to get into the stroller at the park. She was bleeding all over, but managed to not get any on her clothes.
Here she is a day or two later.
And Nathan has a knack for falling asleep in the weirdest places.

Hill Air Force Base Air Show

One of the best things we did all summer was go up to Hill Air Force Base for the airshow featuring the Thunderbirds. I hadn't been to an airshow since I was about 14, but I loved it then and couldn't wait to go again.

Here are the parachutists (is that a word?) making their way back to earth.
I took the kids inside one of the big airplanes (no idea what it's called).
We had a really good view from our seats until this happened...
They had a record number of people attend and had to shut the gates.

It was a little bit loud. I loved it! The kids...not so much.
These guys got some pretty good seats.
The best part of the whole day...the Thunderbirds! They are amazing!
It was such an awesome day. I can't wait to go again in two years.
