End of Summer

I've been reading other people's blogs who are lamenting the end of summer and trying to squeeze in all their last minute activities before it gets too cold to play outside. I think my kids are more than a little excited that summer is over and it's finally cooling off enough to play outside again. Living in Arizona can be so strange...

It's Been One Week!

It's been one week now since Nathan was born and it's already hard to remember what life was like before he was here. He's a sweet baby who sleeps about 90% of the time. When he is awake, he's usually calm and just looks around taking everything in. Although he does have some powerful lungs and can scream pretty loud when he wants to. The other kids have to cover their ears it gets so loud. So to keep that from happening they will warn me if he starts to cry. "Mom, the baby's crying." "Mom, the baby is about to cry." "Mom, the baby's awake. Go get him before he cries."

His belly button cord fell off already and he had his first bath on Wednesday. As you can see, he didn't enjoy it very much. Allison loves her "Baby Nafun" (which is how she says his name, when she isn't calling him "Baby Henry.") Any time he opens his eyes and looks in her general direction she gets so happy and says, "Oh, he wuvs me!" All of the kids love to help out and take turns holding him, although they're ready to give him back after about 5 seconds.

I'm feeling great overall. I have just a little bit of lower back pain from the epidural. But I've lost 20 pounds in the past week - Wahoo! Too bad the next 20 won't come off that easily. (Or the 20 after that. *sigh*)

I'll try to get some more pictures posted, which means I'll have to actually take some more pictures, but come on - he's a 5th baby. What did you expect? Just kidding. .

Baby (non)Update

Still here. Still pregnant. No signs of him coming any time soon. The good news is that my ankles aren't looking too bad right now, today is supposed to be the last triple-digit day for the rest of they year (HOORAY!), the baby swing that I ordered came in the mail and is all set up and ready to go, and I found a baby blessing outfit that isn't completely dorky looking and didn't cost a fortune, a rare feat indeed.

I'm in full nesting mode lately and I've been trying to tackle one big cleaning project each day. Last week I cleaned out my filing cabinet and realized I've been keeping (along with lots of other useless stuff) credit card statements since 2001. Really?!? Why did I think I'd need those? What could possibly happen that I would need to know what I purchased 10 years ago? It did make my stomach drop when I saw the bill from our Disneyland trip back in 2007, and that was when we only had to pay for one kid. Next time we go we'll have to buy tickets for four kids. Holy crap! Oh, well...totally worth it. And only 418 days until we get to go again! I can't wait!

Enough rambling. I'm going to go lie down.
