Maddie May's First Birthday!

For her first birthday, we took her out to lunch and for a ride on the carousel.

And Grandma Deedum shipped her a pink Teddy Bear Birthday Cake so she wouldn't be left out of that Kober tradition.

There should be a video here of her eating her cake, but I'm not sure if it's working or not.

Happy 7th Birthday Jared!!

Jared turned 7 in January! He was pretty sad that he couldn't have a friend party, but that's kind of hard to do when all of your friends are 600 miles away.

 He put the candles on by himself. See how they make a 7? Kinda? Sorta? Backwards?

We're back to being Utards!

What better way to introduce our kids to what a real winter is than by taking them sledding during our first week here.

Nathan cried almost the whole time. Not because he wasn't having fun, but because he wanted his own tube.

I found out afterwards that Kyle and Hayden were wearing shorts under their snowpants. You can take the kid out of Arizona, but you can't take the Arizona out of the kid!

Christmas Eve at the Science Center and Family Party

On Christmas Eve we went to the Arizona Science Center, like we did last year. The Lego exhibit wasn't there this time, but we still had a lot of fun!  And being a holiday, the place was practically empty. 

The kids got to grow vegetables in the "garden" and play in house,

Find our house on the map of the county,

Make pictures out of geometric shapes (I know there's a name for these, but I can't remember it),

And I spent way too much time building a giant carbon nanotube (is that an oxymoron?). I'm sure someone came along right behind us and destroyed it, but I'd like to think it's still standing.

The kids tried their hardest to power a light bulb by pedaling the bikes.

It helps if your feet can reach the pedals.

Then we went outside and played with the colored balls in the water.

We always have a good time at the Science Center and it's a great way to fill the day of Christmas Eve.  That night we got together will all of the Kobers and their families for dinner and a few presents.
