but for a few short years I have the privilege of knowing them as children."

Spring Break 2012

For Spring Break this year we thought we'd finally take a trip up to the Grand Canyon. We've lived here for over seven years and have never stopped to see it. Heck, Clint's lived here his whole life and he's never seen it. So we made a little vacation out of it. We drove up through Sedona since we'd never been there either. We found a park to eat lunch at and let the kids run around for a little bit.
Then we drove up to Sunset Crater, which is a volcano in Northern Arizona that erupted around 900 years ago. The whole hillside is still covered in lava rock.
There's a short hike off the main trail that loops around for a closer look at the lava rocks. If you look close you can see Clint with Allison on his shoulders following Kyle on the trail.
Hayden likes to pose!
The next morning we drove over to the Grand Canyon. It was colder and windier than we expected it to be. But we picked a good weekend because the next week it snowed and they had to close a bunch of the roads in the area.
Trying to take a picture of ourselves in zoom mode:Oh, that's better:
Clint and Kyle decided to go off on a "trail" down the side of the canyon a little ways. I stayed up on the main trail with the rest of the kids and tried to keep from panicking while they were gone.
If it were up to me, they'd have a guard rail around the entire rim. I'm surprised they don't have more people fall off than they do.
We had a good time and now we can check this off our bucket list.
